Taiwanese fire dancer Yang Li-wei caught the world’s attention with her blazing performance on Britain’s Got Talent in February. But for Yang, this “dangerous and captivating” spectacle is about more than just the flames.
There are only a handful of professional fire dancers in Taiwan. Having performed with fire for a decade, Yang is proving that mastery doesn’t arrive overnight. “I believe the twenty-plus years before I appeared on Britain’s Got Talent were my secret, because I was training every single day,” she says.
